First things first: The first-ever issue of The Skateboarder's Journal is at the printer, and it's going to be hitting newsstands within the next couple of weeks. If you've got any questions, or if you're interested in a subscription, check out www.theskateboardersjournal.com, or e-mail Jack Smith at jack@theskateboardersjournal.com.

Concrete Wave Magazine's Michael Brooke is releasing the first issueof his AXS Trade Magazine in November. Mike tells me that this magazine is aimed at all longboard retailers that want to learn more about the culture, and the business, of longboarding. If you're an interested skateshop, email mbrooke@interlog.com for more info.

One Skateboard Company and Rooftop Skateboards are both offering some really favorable "margin builder" deals to skate retailers through the holiday season. Contact AJ Kohn at oneskateboardco@gmail.com, or Ryan Draper at ryan@rooftopskateboarding.com for more details.

Rise Skateboard Shop in Carmel has moved to a new home at 622T S.Rangeline Rd. The phone number is still 317.843.9980. The new location is mere seconds away from the old one, but a hell of a lot easier to find.

In other independent retailer news, the word on the street is that Adrenaline Zone in Louisville, Kentucky is no more. We tried to call and confirm, but reached a number "that has either been disconnected, or is no longer in service". Which is never a good sign.

We'd like to belatedly congratulate Gary Collins of Instrument Skateboards on his purchase of Galaxie Skateshop in Newport, Kentucky. Although we will admittedly miss Highschool, and his keen in sights on all things skateboarding.

The Ripple Surf and Wake recently moved to brand-new... and much, much bigger... digs at 823 Broad Ripple Ave. in Indianapolis. The Ripple also expanded their longboard selection by ginormous leaps and bounds... go check it out for yourself. Brad Maley's a great guy, and the shop is nothing short of absolutely amazing.

Ryan Draper sent us a flyer recently for weekly sessions that he's hosting at Bedford Skatepark. Every Saturday at 2pm is the ticket, unless it's raining or snowing (of course). Bedford has a tight and dedicated crew of talented kids. It might be worth checking out.

We like seeing small, local companies doing things like this to bring their local skate scenes together.

Dave Hegstrom recently e-mailed us, telling us that Skaterbuilt is making a major comeback, with new wood being done by San Diego's Watson Laminates. For more info, give Dave a yell at info@skaterbuilt.com. I've already got dibs on a 12" pig with 60mm Poolside Favors, because my Bevel is getting ready for wall retirement. And a functional nose would be really, really bonus.

Skaterbuilt's new ad. See it at www.skaterbuilt.com.

Soma from Focus Skateboard Magazine (and Character Skateboards' team manager) needs our help to get his book project, "Tuff LikeYou", published. There's an overview of the project at Kickstarter, click here for the link:

We just got a heads-up last week from Bart at The Legion (via Facebook), and he tells us that Legion is going to have a new guest model soon from Jeff "Ffej" Hedges. Ffej was a one-time pro for Santa Cruz Skateboards, and is still the master of all things inverts. This is gonna be really, really cool. Check it out at www.legionskateboards.com.

Lastly: Indianapolis has a brand-new snowboard shop in the Castleton area called Sun Valley Sports. With locations in Vail, Colorado and Dayton, Ohio (?), it's a small, independent, four-store chain. The Indianapolis store is being managed by Sam Robertson (formerly of Dick's Sporting Goods in Castleton)... and while they were at it, Sun Valley also managed to rope in Castleton Dick's ace ski and snowboard tech, Von. If you don't know, Von is one of the best, brightest, and most experienced ski and snowboard techs in Indiana. Sun Valley has the bossest brand selection around (including Lib Tech, Ride, Never Summer... and of course, industry icon Burton), and a tech-shop-setup to die for. Check 'em out at 8418 Castle Corner Drive (right across from Guitar Center, and next door to Dave and Buster's), call 'em at 317.577.5500, or email info@sunvalleysportsindy.com.
