In Big Mess news, we have the new Lucas Musgrave (aka "Goon")-drawn, limited-edition "throwback" shape deck. Kirb didn't tell me what it's actually called, so we're gonna call it the "Goop Slasher" for now. The dims look great... we always appreciate long wheelbases and double-drilling around here... and it looks like a killer ride. And at only $45 bucks (plus shipping), it also looks like a damn good deal. Only 50 were made, so hurry it up...

Along with the "Goop" release, came this flyer for Big Mess' "Artist Collective" t-shirt series. $22 "free shipping in the continental U.S." (if you couldn't figure out what "Shipped CONUS" meant)... I always love when companies do these little, quick-hit, and visually inspiring projects. Too bad I also miss every damned last one of them, due to perpetual brokeness...!

JRF over at By The Sword sent along the press release for BTS' Fall 2010 catalog, which you can see at By The Sword's website (www.bytheswordskateboards.com). Regulator Distribution is taking orders for October delivery, and the whole catalog looks super damn good. Here's some of what Mike V. had to say about it:

"This first offering of By The Sword product is the beginning of a new season in my life and in my skateboarding where I am certain of the point and where my fingerprint touches everything we do as a brand. This is me, this is skateboarding and this is who we are at our very best, as skaters... By The Sword."

If this is an indication of where BTS is going, then I think it's going to go over very well indeed. Skaters taking back skateboarding is always a good thing, anyway...

Dave over at Skaterbuilt sent us some new info, as well. According to the e-mail, Skaterbuilt's OEM production is now being handled by Danny Creadon at Factory 13! Which is awesome, since Dave and Danny are such great guys, anyway... having then collaborating is surely gonna be even better. Skaterbuilt is taking pre-orders now at www.skaterbuilt.com. Let's hope they bring the 12" pig back...! That's another product that I missed out on, and I've been kicking myself in the ass over it ever since...!

In The Solitary Life news... I'm sure that everyone knows by now that September is "Freestyle Month" here at The Life. We made September "Freestyle Month" to coincide with the World Championships of Freestyle in Philadelphia, which will be going off on September 18th and 19th. We're actually gonna be in Philly to cover the festivities... we wouldn't miss it for the world, actually. Because it's not very often that a major freestyle comp goes off, let alone in the continental US. AJ Kohn (our freestyle correspondent, and the organizer of this event) told me that the last Worlds to be held in the US, was way back in 2001! So, yeah... this is a major, major deal. Hopefully, we'll see you there...!

Lastly, it just wouldn't be "Freestyle Month" without adding this little gem that we discovered over at Sk8Kings (www.sk8kings.com). It's the brand-new Kilian Martin freestyle model, and it looks killer. It's a very "traditional" freestyle shape with super-stylish aesthetics (a major step up for Sk8Kings) that reflect well on Kilian's remarkable skating. If you haven't seen it yet...?! Here's a reminder:

(We're always looking for excuses to post this one again...!)
